Review of Storage 24 (2012) by The D — 19 Dec 2012
First out you must remember that his is a low budget UK production so for all its shortfalls in terms of effects that factor must be beared in mind.
It simply transfers the original Alien idea to a public storage facillity in the heart of London. A millitary aircraft crashes and its cargo escapes into the mazes of the premises. Trapped inside the building are some friends, friends that naturally have issues with each other not least Charlie(Clarke) & Shelley(Campbell-Hughes) who have recently ended their relationship. So they set about evading the creature roaming the corridors and look to escape.
The film is put together really well and as I said the creature effects are sub standard(budget reminder) but even so it provides the sort of menace it required and in later scenes some fairly gorey killings.
The storage facillity is an ideal venue for such a feature as it possesses just the right sort of claustrophobic environment needed. It also steers clear of a predictable last man standing climax.
In terms of performance Noel Clarke really leads the line well as the normally laid back unadventurous Charlie as he steps up to the plate to get themselves out of there. Apart from a couple of bit part players everyone else stands up well also. The film also knows when to firmly place it's tongue deep in it's cheek with some chucklesome moments.
Well worth seeing if just to keep up the interest in UK productions.
