Review of Stop-Loss (2008) by Matt K — 16 Sep 2008
The infamous stop-loss is a reality all Soldiers face when they volunteer (I am currently stop lossed). What this movie is really about is PTSD. Why, then, couldn't they call a spade a spade? PTSD affects the Soldier, the family and everyone surrounding them.
PTSD has been around--granted by other names--for as long as war has been waged. The term stop loss is used as a punchline in this film. Notwithstanding my issues with the political statement the movie tries, and fails, to make, Ryan Phillippe et al.
turns in a reasonably good performance.
