Review of Stop-Loss (2008) by Jan M — 23 Apr 2010
Female directors make much better 9/11-wars movies than men. Too bad for Kimberly Peirce that she went there long before anybody wanted to watch those movies and long before Kathryn Bigelow nailed the Oscars for the Hurt Locker.
Stop Loss was seriously overlooked when it got out and it's a shame because it's a fine piece of work. Not as hard-hitting as Bigelow's but still above average. Ryan Phillippe continues to act well in underperforming movies while Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt make for an interesting supporting cast.
