Review of Stonewall (2015) by Graham B — 10 Jan 2016
Not quite the whitewash the trailer displayed, but this coming of age melodrama has little justification in taking place during the Stonewall riots and the fact that it suggests its white cis male protagonist started them is quite offensive.
The melodrama is handled quite well. The depiction of the riots is handled very badly.
The 1996 Stonewall film handles all of this film's themes brilliantly and would be a better way to spend your time.
Boo, Roland Emmerich. Boo.
