You'd think with Stonehearst Asylum's impressive cast (Kate Beckinsale, Ben Kingsley, Kate Beckinsale, Michael Caine, Kate Beckinsale...) and ominous setting it would be quite the thriller, but this movie is bland.
It isn't very scary and it isn't very suspenseful. It's not a bad movie, though, and I don't regret watching it (did I mention Kate Beckinsale?). I just expected this Edgar Allan Poe adaptation to be a bit more frightening.
