Review of Stonehearst Asylum (2014) by Steve W — 24 Oct 2015
A weak script almost derails Stonehearst Asylum, an Edgar Allen Poe based story about lunatics that overtake an asylum and lock away everyone downstairs. Its not a spoiler, as its on the dvd back cover and is the premise of this gothic chiller.
The movie does well with performances, cinematography, and set design, but the third act twist feels schmaltzy and cheap. I only viewed this because it was directed by Brad Anderson, who always does a competent directing job with horror.
