Review of Stone (2012) by H Z — 24 Jan 2011
Maybe something about life as a prison and like your soul in captivity and all our lives being a prison and the fly just trying to get outside. kinda interesting I guess. Actually, now that I think about it, it was a good movie. I'll bump it up to 80%. I mean, yeah, it was pretty boring and I'm sure I wasn't the only one waiting for some action, but if you examine it as the "play-like" drama it was, it was pretty deep. I'd give it 75% if RT let you rate that way.
You know, after sitting on this one for a day or so, I just want to reiterate that this was in fact a good movie. the fly and its buzzing does symbolize the sound that Norton was talking about as well as the possible metaphor I proposed in the first paragraph. The fly, which usually symbolizes pestilence, does not in this movie. Ironic, as the symbol of fly as pestilence is indeed a Christian theme. A theme in which this movie obviously sees some flaws.
Conclusively, not for the "little brains", but thematically, very clever.
