Review of Stone (2012) by Karen M — 16 Apr 2011
The synopsis of this movie doesn't actually reflect it properly. Sure Ed Norton plays a convicted felon in jail who is up for parole and the parole officer is Robert De Niro. Sure Ed's wife (Milla Jovovich) will do anything to get out of jail.
But what is with the Zukangor references throughout. What is with the relation between Robert De Niro's character and his wife at the start of film. What is with the buzzing noises that they all seem to here and the underlying religious annotations.
I wish someone would tell me what this movie is about becuase after watching it, I have no fricken idea. This was at times extremely slow and then bam something graphic happens it sucks you back in but doesn't actuall go anywhere or give you any answers.
My conclusion is that those who encountered Zukangor heard a sound that made them realise they were about to make a choice and that god was speaking to them and leading them in that direction. That's what made Stone (Norton) burn his grandparents house down, that's what made Mabry's wife try and leave him and that's what made Lucetta (Milla) sleep with Mabry.
Weird as film and left me wondering why the hell I sat through it and what the hell it was about.
