Review of Stone (2010) by Roy Hector K — 30 Apr 2011
The movie revolves around a Parole Officer played by Robert De Niro, whose bland life was enlivened when one of the prisoners asked his wife to seduce him in exchange for a favorable Parole report. Along the way, various "complications" come up which affect the lives of the people involved.
De Niro, Edward Norton and Mila Jovovich were excellent in the movie, giving outstanding performances.
I actually like the film, I'm just not sure if others will like it, or "get" the movie. Almost no action, mostly dialogue, and long periods of scenes with no dialogue as the Director tries to convey the mood of the movie thru the scenes. It reminds me a lot of a similar movie with similar style in terms of establishing mood, which is "Lost in Translation". I liked that movie, too. Highly recommended.
