Review of Stolen Kisses (1968) by Christopher J — 09 Jul 2007
I think this may be the greatest Truffaut film. He takes what is a biographical story and merges it with the social upheavel going on at the time, which directly involved French cinema, and weaves them both through a tapestry of cinematic genres and devices, all along commenting on his favorite subject: the pursuit of classical love in a modern world.
Truffaut shows us a world through a character who is so distanced from it, leading us to have never felt so close to it.
