Review of Stolen (2012) by Riona H — 15 Nov 2012
A lively outing for the actually quite subdued Cage compared to most of his other movies.
After eight years in jail after a $10m bank heist turns sour Will Montgomery(Cage) seems to have every intention of going straight & getting to know his daughter again. His former partner Vincent(Lucas), believed to be dead, has other ideas. Kidnapping Alison(Loeb) Vincent demands his share of the $10m not believeing that Will had actually burned it to ensure a lesser sentence.
It's pure cat and mouse stuff as not only does WIll have to find a way to rescue Alison but he also has to evade the keen surveillance from FBI agent Harlend who also believes there is a chance the money may still be out there.
There's a top notch car chase through New Orleans concluding in a mutli-storey car park and the films pace doesn't really let up. So it's hard to get bored here. Filled with slap bang action and a crazed performance from Lucas it's all pretty good fun. The film unfortantely suffers from a luke warm and not totally explained conclusion.
On the whole though a decent bit of nonsense.
