Review of Stolen (2012) by Roxanne R — 05 Dec 2012
It was a let-down and definitely felt sluggish throughout the film. Nicolas Cage plays the role of a professional thief named Will Montgomery and his best friends Vincent (Josh Lucas) and Rookie (J.D. Evermore) along with Riley (Malin Akerman) steal $10 million from a bank but something goes wrong.
After years go by, someone is still holding a grudge and kidnaps Montgomery's daughter Alison (Sami Gayle) for ransom. Can Will Montgomery come up with the cash and save his daughter? What I liked about the film was the setting- New Orleans during Mardi Gras! I was at New Orleans about three years ago and remembered the streets shown so well - Chartress, Bourbon, Jackson Square, French Quarter omg it brought great memories! I had big expectations since the film was directed by Simon West (director of Lara Croft:Tombraider and that film was fantastic) but this one failed to deliver big time.
The chase scenes were okay, acting good but Cage is a seasoned actor who can perform most action roles effortlessly. I have to side with all the critics on this one, it is silly, superficial, sluggish.
Wait to watch it on Netflix instant streaming.
