Review of Stoker (2013) by Darrel H — 10 Jul 2013
I was pleasently suprised by this movie. I had heard many bad things about the movie. I had heard that the movie was all style over substance. At the beginning of the movie this was true. the beginning of the movie was kind of slow and boring. Fortunately, the movie picks up after the first half hour.
SPOILER ALERT! If you don't want to know anything about the movie then stop reading.
I'm the beginning, I didn't really understand what the big deal was with her birthday present which was a pair of shoes. Then it showed her lying in her bed with the same shoe in different sizes all around her.
The beginning of this movie was very slow but as the movie progressed, the characters become more and more strange.
For example, in the beginning we see Mia Wasikowska making snow angels on her bed to the sound of a metronome. Later we see her masterbating in the shower to the thought of Mathew Goode breaking her classmate's neck with a belt.
At the end, Wasikowska essentially become a killer after she kills Mathew Goode. I feet like it was a good ending but at the same time I feel like it was kind of predictable.
Overall, the movie looked amazing and the actors gave good performances but the big plot twist to me was predictable and the begining was slow and boring.
