Review of Stoker (2013) by Matt D — 07 Sep 2013

Cinematically I LOVED the way this movie was shot and directed by Chan-Wook Park, but the story itself doesn't quite match the brilliance of the components telling the story. In some ways it tries to be everything all at once - a slasher film, a Hitchcockian thriller, a strange romance, etc. but in attempting to hit all of those marks it fails to really break any new ground.

I still give it very high marks but ultimately it could have been so much more.
