Review of Stir of Echoes (1999) by Felix P — 11 May 2012
Stir of Echoes is a supernatural thriller that got the bad luck of opening the same year as the Sixth Sense. Compared to that masterpiece, allot of people didn't give this striaght forward tale the credit it deserved.
Kevin Bacon is very identifiable as the blue collar everyman with a good wife and son. Things get out of hand when while undergoing hypnosis for fun at a party. He starts to see the ghost of a girl who went missing and his world is shattered.
The mystery isn't all that complicated and how it plays out is a little simplistic, but overall its a fun little scary movie that's effective without being overly gorey.
