A palatably moody film combining strong storytelling with an alluring, spectral atmosphere. Casting could not have been better, with the actors working together in an unquestionably authentic familial dynamic.
Arresting performances across the board, a powerfully melancholy score to underlay the mystery and menace... Fantastic. Perhaps the last great horror movie of the twentieth century.
