Stir Crazy is clearly a precursor to Blazing Saddles, indeed Wilder and Pryor were supposed to be the stars of BS too. Stir Crazy is not a great movie, but it beats the socks off of any comedy made in the last 20 years in the US.
.. says a lot about comedy today, eh?
