Review of Stir Crazy (1980) by Bryan W — 30 Nov 2009
From almost the beginning, this film feels like a shameless waste of the two talented comic actors playing the leads. Though the setup provides an ample playing ground for Wilder and Pryor, the writing is never as good as their performances, leaving both of them grabbing at material throughout the confusing storyline.
Granted, sometimes they manage to strike comic gold, but most of the story is spent watching them on their hands and knees, desperately pulling at pieces of dirt to get a laugh. Overall a painful, bizarre experience.
