Review of Still Waiting... (2009) by Zack A — 01 Jan 2019
"Still Waiting" is up there with "American Psycho 2" in terms of sequels that pale in comparison to their originals.
The original, "Waiting" was a funny, insightful look into the restaurant world, with interesting, funny characters played by decent actors.
"Still Waiting" seems to be a sado-masochistic effort to disgrace, and trample everything good about the original film. The hardest thing to believe, for me, is both films were apparently written by the same person (Rob McKittrick). I was sure, when I was watching Still Waiting, that the writing was done by a completely different, far less talented writer than the first.
The writing is utterly atrocious. Characters I found endearing in "Waiting" become vapid, stupid people I despise in the second. Especially now, nearly 10 years later, I cringe at so much of the humor, both the content, and the execution.
Ultimately, "Still Waiting" is just like watching the original, and superior "Waiting", then watching its creator take it out behind the barn and shoot it. It's almost as if Still Waiting was written and produced out of spite, as if someone said "Let's make the douchiest movie ever." Still Waiting sucks, bad. One of the worst films I've ever seen.
