While the movie elicited all of the requisite emotional responses, and the acting ranged from commendable to superb, I was nevertheless left with the feeling that something was 'missing'. The movie would have benefited from more development in the subplots which were particularly unsatisfactory; Anna's response to her positive testing was unbelievably nonchalant.
I understand that the emphasis of the emotional changes were meant to centre around Alice, but at times it felt as though the rest of the cast were devoid of emotion. The ending was abrupt but without impact.
