Review of Still Alice (2014) by Lynn A — 25 Feb 2015
Not exactly fun to watch, but gripping and thought-provoking. Julianne Moore absolutely deserves the Oscar she just won for her powerful performance as Alice, the victim of early onset Alzheimer's disease.
Watching her condition progressively worsen and her memory deteriorate over the course of this movie is emotionally devastating. The other elements of this movie are all competent, including Alec Baldwin and surprisingly Kristen Stewart.
But I can see why Moore was the lone part considered by The Academy. It's her heartbreaking portrayal that makes this such so believable.
