Review of Still Alice (2014) by Jim T — 06 Mar 2015
Julianne Moore as Alice dominates this film. At it's heart, this journey of loss ends with a connection. It's a story really about love and what matters most in this world. So often, we get caught up in materialism and striving.
We forget that life is short and the wake we leave behind and around us grows secondary to identity and achievement. I found myself absorbed in to Alice's shrinking world and grew fond of her youngest daughter, the bravest of her 3 children.
Also appreciate that the family struggles with her illness did not take center stage. It allows the viewer to fall more in to Alice's experience rather than family drama unfolding around her. Highly recommend this film if for Moore's bravo Best Actress performance!
