Review of Still Alice (2014) by Tony P — 25 Mar 2015
Extremely moving story about early onset Alzheimers Disease in a 50 year old Linguistics Professor.
Julianne Moore gives an Oscar winning performance as Alice Howland.
In the movie we chart her deterioration in memory, work and family relationships. What begins as forgetting the odd word (don't we all) carries on with visits to a neurologist. Alice panics that her symptoms could be caused by stroke or brain tumour. The diagnosis is a bombshell.
Moore is married to a visibly aged Alec Baldwin. I still remember him in The Hunt For Red October in 1990.
The film is extremely emotional which judging by the subject matter is understandable.
