Review of Still Alice (2014) by Eric M — 18 Apr 2015
Having experienced the loss of a beloved family member to alzheimer's disease when I was younger, it was fascinating to watch this film as it tried to give a glimpse inside the mind deteriorating and shutting down.
it also made the viewing more difficult as the devastation hit close to home. julianne moore's performance was controlled yet sublime. my only gripe with the film was that it was too gentle with the tragedy and the horror of the disease, not only for the person but their loved ones.
as difficult as it was to watch, the film only scratches the surface on how scary this affliction is in real life. not a pre-party film for sure.
