Review of Steve Jobs (2015) by Ben T — 17 Nov 2015
Steve Jobs is a movie I was really interested in seeing, Steve Jobs was a fascinating guy and this film just looked great. Steve Jobs is a really really good movie that is borderline great. This film is lead by the brilliant acting.
Michael Fassbender gives one of his best peformances of his amazing career. Steve Jobs was an asshole, funny and while sometimes you got very annoyed by his choices he was a really routable character.
Kate Winslet is fantastic in this movie, I love how we see she has some control over Steve but she's a very funny character and when she gets angry at Steve you are with her. Seth Rogen is brilliant as Steve Wozniak, he wasn't in the film as much as I was expecting but he's great.
Jeff Daniels is brilliant in a supporting role, he has an amazing argument scene with Steve Jobs about over halfway through the film. Danny Boyle directed this film so well, it's one of his better movies and I could see him maybe getting a nomination for this movie.
This film has an absolutely amazing screenplay by Aaron Sorkin, he's such a brilliant writer and he did a phenomenal job with this film. The siting for this film is also amazing, the argument scene I mentioned earlier, is fantastically edited, it transitions between the argument and Steve Jobs getting fired, it's so well done.
The music for this film is also great, it builds the suspense a lot which is fantastic. The cinematography is also great, there are a lot of long takes which are fantastically used and the scenes look brilliant.
This is a really good film but if I had any problems I'd say the second act while great has a couple slow moments as did the third act but the whole film is great. Steve Jobs is a really good movie, it's an entertaining and brilliantly written movie lead by amazing peformances.
B+.
