Review of Steve Jobs (2015) by William W — 18 Nov 2015
STEVE JOBS-2015(R)-Nov. 14.
By:The Movie Guy.
In one of the best films of the year, Steve Jobs explores the behind-the-scene turbulent relationship that Jobs had with his co-workers & his daughter during three high-profile product launches. Starting in 1984 with the launch of the Macintosh, Apple founder Steve Jobs (Michael Fassbender) is frustrated that the voice demo for the computer isn't saying "Hello" and he threatens to publicly humiliate engineer Andy Hertzfeld (Michael Stuhlbarg) during the presentation if he doesn't fix the problem. Jobs is also furious with an article in Time magazine reveals that he is the father of five-year-old Lisa (Makenzie Moss) who he refuses to accept despite the paternity test showing a ninety-eight percent chance that he is the father. We move to 1988 at the launch of the NEXT Computer to find former Apple founder Steve Jobs meeting up with former friend & Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak (Seth Rogen) who is still angry that Jobs has not given the proper acknowledgement due the Apple II team, criticizing Jobs's horrible attitude & lack of respect. Jobs is also in conflict with Apple CEO John Sculley (Jeff Daniels) who he blames for killing the Macintosh which in turn lead to Jobs being fired from Apple. Steve Jobs will soon come to the realization that he has something in common with the products he finds poorly constructed, that he in is fact a "poorly made" person. Based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Walter Isaacson, screenwriter Aaron Sorkin & director Danny Boyle have uploaded an incredibly intense & compelling look at a man with a vision to change the way the world communicates, but who struggled making the most basic emotional connections with people. The performances from cast were fantastic & captivating. Michael Fassbender physically embodies every aspect of Steve Jobs from his appearance to his interactions with others. Steve Jobs is my early pick to win the multiple Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director (Danny Boyle), Best Actor (Michael Fassbender) & Best Adapted Screenplay (Aaron Sorkin). CAN'T MISS FILM OF THE YEAR.
