Review of Stepmom (1998) by Andy N — 15 Jul 2008
A very interesting character study, Stepmom looks at what it's like for a new wife to step into the role of mom when her husbands got two children with the other wife. It's an interesting study in that you get to see what's happening through the eyes of all of the characters and not once did I feel I was missing out on any aspect of their lives or thoughts or feelings.
All of the characters are clearly represented and all actors give very strong performances so that by the end of the film-I feel I have witnessed this period in time of their lives completely. It's a very good film, a very big tear jerker, and if you like Julia Roberts or Susan Sarandon, it's a must see film.
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised, but I will say this...be prepared for nothing but full-on bitch mode for like the first 45 minutes...from everybody...Enjoy.
