Review of Stepmom (1998) by Adam H — 02 Apr 2009
I must have been inebriated when watching it the first time to order it again. What is such a cast doing with a "kiddie film" (targeted at adults I assume)... besides making money. This is exactly the kind of Hollywood CHEESE that makes me sick, and has convinced me that the movie industry is making bad parents ;-) The three "parents" do what I hate most with young children, eg: stroke the child's ego with lines such as "Oh sorry, Mummy got the lyrics to the song wrong" or "Well, Daddy forgot today". It's infantile! Baby talk, ewwww.
Stellar cast, it does have very funny and moving moments, but overall... PUT IT TO BED and make it go to sleep as a "normal" parent would. Or am I just getting old and impatient? Either way, the movie had lots of promise but failed to deliver.
