Review of Stephanie Daley (2007) by Radhika N — 15 Feb 2008
A slow uncovering and coming to terms with lives made and lost. A teenager who stands accused of killing her pre-term new-born is interviewed by forensic psychologist, who is herself pregnant after losing her last still-born baby.
There are times when the characters try to project unto the other what they themselves are feeling and this is where the film really works well. To imagine what you would feel in the other's shoes.
The only weakness in the movie is that one does not get to see the desperation that must have preceded the teenager's resolve not to save the baby. Still, not a bad film.
