Review of Step Brothers (2008) by Kyle G — 21 May 2012
Insane man-children make a hilarious and interesting movie here. Whenever the joke starts to get tired or sour (I say "joke" because there is only one; not necessarily a bad thing), the script will add another shot of foul craziness and shake the whole thing up again.
Ferrell is decent and has some great lines, but it's really Reilly who sells his part. While the post-credits stinger is actually kind of a letdown, the real end of the movie (during the wine mixer and shortly thereafter) is a truly touching mixture of heavy absurdism and awkward realism.
