Review of Step Brothers (2008) by Josh D — 16 Oct 2013
A man once said that a five star review is too much, no film is perfect which is true. But Flixster hate percentages and this is close enough.
I am a very immature person so obviously, I enjoyed this movie like John Terry enjoys being a douche... A lot. The movie is quotable and fuckin' hilarious, there are scenes in this movie that are unrelentingly funny and the song "Boats and Hoes" has to be the best song featured in a comedy next to "Whiplash" from That's my Boy.
The humour is immature to the point where it could've been written by a 13 year old stoner who only owns Seth Rogen movies - Ferrel and Reily are entertaining in this movie. The script suits them so well that it seems as if their purpose in life was to make this movie.
The story is basic, but it's a comedy and comedy stories don't really need to be compelling to be great. Zoolander and Dumb and Dumber are both good movies with simple premises and they are both comedies.
I would be a lying turd-in-a-jar if I said "You shouldn't watch this with your friends on a weekend".
