Review of Step Brothers (2008) by Kj P — 31 May 2014
After recently re-watching "Step Brothers," I have to admit, it has lost some it's charm that made it's dumber humour enjoyable the first time around. I loved this movie when it came out in theatres back in 2010, but quite honestly, it is just not one of those films that will have a lasting effect for years to come.
Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are a great pairing for brothers, and they play off each other very well, but by the end of the movie they actually began annoying me. For years I thought this movie was great, but it's jokes only hit half of the time and everyone seems to be over-acting.
It is odd, because I definitely felt differently about this movie before. "Step Brothers" mixes clever humour with downright juvenile humour and sometimes it doesn't work. But the clever humour and all the improve is great, so I still was able to enjoy most of the movie.
