Skiing, climbing, surfing, these are not in themselves terribly important or profound activities. But as this film succeeds in showing, at their highest levels, they are pure expressions of a deeply important human need to keep pushing envelopes, to do things no one has ever done before, to go where no one has gone; the willingness to risk everything to discover something even if it is only yourself is a profound thing.
