Review of Steel Sharks (1997) by Jim M — 03 Feb 2009
Surprisingly well done little action film about a US Navy SEAL team trying to rescue a UN chemical weapons expert from the Irainian Revolutionary Guard. After rescuing him the team is captured and held aboard an Irainian sub and attempt to escape well Gary Busey commands an American nuclear sub thats following the Irainians and Billy Dee Williams does damage control with the US Navy's Fifth Fleet.
Busey's the only standout in the acting department (he's amazingly restrained here), and the action scenes, though low budget are well done. The exterior shots of the subs are all from "The Hunt for Red October" and "Crimson Tide" but are intigrated well.
Simple, straight forward and well done. Message for Iran.....don't fuck with Gary Busey.
