Steel Magnolias follows the story of six women in Louisiana who learn their true identity through crisis and tragedy. The story focuses around a beauty parlour called Truvy's, a place where the women get together and gossip.
The heart gripping story of M'Lynn and her diabetic, nineteen-year-old daughter Shelby, who chooses to have a baby despite her doctor's recommendation. Shelby suffers kidney failure as a result of her pregnancy.
M'Lynn opts to give Shelby one of her kidneys but Shelby's weak body rejects the kidney. This is a wonderful movie, originally a play, that will make you laugh through tears, "[that] is the greatest emotion.
" Steel Magnolias truly earns the tag line of "The funniest movie that will make you cry.".
