Review of Steamboy (2004) by Jared W — 12 Apr 2008

Well I really really wanted to love it, but no amount of optimism can earn this one more than 3 stars. Although visually it's masterpiecal (not shockingly), the plot just isn't vast enough- it is actually suffocating to sit through the first hour without a break and frankly I felt myself getting bored, which is the ultimate movie negative- films should not bore, they are supposed to do the exact opposite.

However, it still has some fascinating moments and a fucking epic finale. The soundtrack is also a killer...
