Review of Steamboy (2004) by Scott B — 13 Jul 2008
When it comes to characterization and plot, this film doesn't compete with the work of some other anime films, like Spirited Away. Where this film really suceeds is the bulky, steam-powered tech that literally fills the screen at times; not to mention the fanatical attention to detail (rust spots, rivets, ornate Victorian decoration).
Ultimately this is a movie of eye candy, and it's eye candy directed at people who love Steampunk (which, really, what's not to love?).
