Review of Stealing Home (1988) by James L — 27 Mar 2008
This is a little sleeper film that people either don't know or have forgotten. It is, though, wonderfully touching and introspective, speaks about life and the struggle one faces to, both, choose to live your life and then actually do it. The cast is all gorgeous and all give gorgeous performances (especially the heartbreaking Blair Brown and the heartbreakingly beautiful Beth Broderick). Jonathan Silverman shows that he developed his comic timing at an early age, William McNamara stops your breath at every turn, John Shea puts all his honesty out on a platter for you, Mark Harmon shows how gorgeous our flawed humanity can be..
And Jodie Foster simply destroys you with her sense of longing, her wistful desire to do something, to go somewhere, to be something that nobody has ever dreamed of before... if only she can find out what it is.
Possibly, Foster at her most physically beautiful.
