Review of Stealing Harvard (2002) by Steve J — 05 Dec 2007
I finally had to see this one as kind of a scientific experiment. Basically, I had to see what happens when a talented, funny guy (Jason Lee) ends up in a movie with the most untalented, unfunny guy in the world (Tom Green). Kind of like mixing matter and anti-matter or something. Apparently, they cancel each other out. I don't particularly recommend seeing this movie, but at the same time I don't particularly recommend not seeing it.
Megan Mullally is the only person in the whole cast who's actually funny. Everyone else has so little to work with that they're just kind of there. On the positive side, at least the bland script prevents Green from being unbearably annoying. There are some funny scenes, but it's the sort of generic, flavorless humor you find in the average sitcom.
If you want to see Stealing Harvard, see it. If you don't, don't.
