Review of Stealing Beauty (2007) by Stefany B — 28 Jul 2009
There was nothing thrilling or interesting or remotely captivating about this indie. The main problem was that too many characters were introduced and not enough of them were explored. The only character that had any depth was Lucy (Liv Tyler) and the rest of the main characters seemed unimportant.
I couldn't feel any emotion towards any of them because they were all supposed to be powerful and important characters. Frankly put, the characters were quite sketchy. The movie could have been better because the concept and actors were fine.
But if you (as an audience) truly don't care for any of the characters, the film will not be as enjoyable. The only thing I took away from this film is how well a remote Italy was shot. But if you want good camera work, good actors, and a good plot, may I suggest 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona' instead?
