Review of Stealing Beauty (1996) by Alena D — 28 May 2008

Weird and somewhat pointless movie. It's sad that I wanted to see this film so much, and what a let-down it was when I finally saw it. I really had no idea what it was about, just that it stars my major crush, Liv Tyler.

The movie seems to be all about the main character losing her virginity. It's actually kind of a dark film populated by weird, creepy male characters. The film is full of male characters, only two of which are not portrayed as creepy lechers. The number of lecherous, creepy old guys is ridiculous. It actually lent a certain level of stress to the watching experience; Liv Tyler's character is so naive and blind to all these creepy guys perving on her. There is so much emphasis on her virginity that I seriously did not want the film to go down the road of one of these dirty old men forcing themselves on her.

Three stars only because I am mesmerized by Liv Tyler.. I could watch her clean her house for two hours. <3.
