Review of Stay Tuned (1992) by Demetris H — 22 Feb 2010
Charming little comedy from the early nighties that sppofs daytime television and the people who spend the free time in front of it.
Stay tuned tells the story of Roy, who hates his job and deals with it by spending every free minute he has in front of the television. All this changes when Roy gets an offer from the mysterious Mr Spike who gives Roy a brand new televion system with new channels that no one else seems to have - Long story short, Roy and his wife get sucked into the world of television (via the satellite dish) where they have to survive for 24 hours or their souls will be sent to Hell. As I said above, the film spoofs pretty much known daytime television show - from demonised wrestlers to Dwayne's underworld and cartoon characters. Sporting a suprising cast and a pretty decent script, this film maintains its own little charm that kept me laughing to the predictable end.
