Review of Stay (2005) by Heather C — 15 Jan 2009
Aaron and I watched this on DVD a few months ago (yes, I'm way behind on here again!) According to IMDb, the movie is about: "This movie focuses on the attempts of a psychiatrist to prevent one of his patients from committing suicide while trying to maintain his own grip on reality.".
I had high hopes for this movie due to Ewan McGregor and Ryan Gosling being the main actors in it, but I was somewhat disappointed. There was certainly potential for the story, but it didn't reach it. As a matter of fact, it didn't even try to reach it.
The story was just an overall mess. Aaron and I always try to second guess plots as they play out, but this one we didn't even bother. Nothing really followed a logical path, nor did the movie even try to make paths to bring the viewer up to speed. At the end of the movie we understood everything, but by that point, we just didn't care any more.
If given the chance to do over again, I'd skip this one.
