Review of Stay (2005) by Jerem M — 22 Jul 2013
Director Marc Forster has had an up (Monster's Ball) and down (Stranger than Fiction) track record. This one is definitely on the downslope. Loaded with talent both on the screen and behind it, so little is effectively interesting.
In fact the movie is a bore. You can try to make sense of the Lynch-ian imagery and schizophrenic editting, but in the end it amounts to... not much. The payoff is so cheap that the entire film feels like one big waste of time.
It's unfortunate, because a lot of work obviously went into this production. Rent Forster's Finding Neverland for a more fulfilling experience.
