Review of Stay (2005) by Moya W — 12 Mar 2011
Stay takes up subjects such as suicide and the difference between fantasy and reality.
This is a confusing movie. By the end of it you will have a hard time putting all the puzzle pieces together. Maybe it's one of those movies you have to see many times to fully comprehend the concept of it. This movie was exceptionally well shot, the imagery was fantastic and the photography was astounding. The pictures and the music of this movie fit perfectly. Even though it only had about six songs, the few songs that it did have managed to make the movie even better.
The acting was also incredible. Ewan McGregor did an amazing American accent, Ryan Gosling was brilliant as the suicidal student Henry Lethem and Naomi Watts put a spark to the movie when playing Lila. If you put all these details together I can say that Stay was an endearing and thought-provoking movie that will make you think and confuse you and most certainly keep you hooked from the beginning until the very end!
