This is an extreemly underrated, forgotten jem of a gangster movie. It's not your typical New York gangster fare. This movie stars some of the greatest actors of their generation in an emotionally honest, beautifully shot film with a haunting score you won't soon forget.
It's based on the true-life events of 'The Westies' (a book I highly recommend if you like this film). The Westies were New York's most brutal Irish gang from the '70's and '80's.
This film nails the Irish-American loyalty and Catholic culture that ruled in this group of men. There's nothing out there quite like this film.
