Review of State of Grace (1990) by Quecuatzl K — 17 Jul 2009
One of my all time faves. I bought it on cheapie DVD anticipating it may have dated since I saw it in the theatre, but it hasn't at all. This maybe because of Ennio Morricone's best score in my opinion as it matches the gritty dark cinematography perfectly. The cast is top notch and Gary Oldman utilizes his over the top hysterics perfectly for this role.
What hasn't dated as well is the ultra gory ending that ranks right up there with Peckinpah's most nihilistic carnage. One of the best shoot outs ever put on film, as it coincides with gorgeous slow motion footage of St Patty's day parade. WOW.
