Review of State and Main (2000) by Emily O — 12 Mar 2008
The cast is fantastic, the premise is fun, the whole thing's enjoyable...but I'm unsettled by Mamet's condescension toward the small-town characters. I can't figure out if Rebecca Pidgeon's character seems so lame because of her acting or because her husband wrote her a pathetic role.
