Review of State and Main (2000) by Lauren L — 09 Jul 2005
I rented State and Main out of the library because it sounded interesting, but I ended up being was only somewhat entertained.
The movie stars a talented ensemble of actors and actresses. Sarah Jessica Parker, Philip Seymore Hoffman, Alec Baldwin and William H. Macy are just a few of the great thespians in this film. All the stars give impressive performances and their characters are unique and amusing.
State and Main is about a low-budget film crew that takes over a small town to make their movie in. Scandle and drama occur when the people of the town get involved with the film crew. The movie had an interesting concept, but was not altogether enjoyable. The movie tried too hard to be funny when in many parts it was not. There were also a lot of dull and awkward moments that were just not fun to watch.
State and Main was an ok movie but not one of the best.
