Review of Starting Out in the Evening (2007) by Jon G — 10 Jun 2008
Great drama featuring Frank Langella in one of the better performances of the past couple of years. An aging novelist who has been working on the same book for 10 years meets his match in a bright and inquisitive grad student.
Her presence forces him to bring about long repressed emotions from his past as his daughter also must come to terms with her life choices. Obviously more performance driven, this film is well worth a viewing if you like characters who are intellectual but also well developed and sincere.
